![]() Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) are EVERYWHERE! Frome the pages of American ANTI Cancer Institute www.americanaci.org We've all seen them. Some of them are so common that we don't even think of them as genetically modified, like the pest-resistant plant varieties now widely available both as consumable products and in seed form. Then there are the trendy, novel GMOs like the grapple, the apple-resembling, grape-tasting "fruit". But these categories of GMOs are also just a small part of the whole picture. Most frightening of all: the vast majority of these genetically modified organisms are ingested without the consumer's knowledge! GMO labeling is NOT required in the U.S and it is estimated that more than 2/3 of all processed foods sold in the U.S contain genetically modified ingredients. What are GMOs? Are GMO products safe? A genetically modified organism is an organism whose genome has been altered by gene-splicing techniques of biotechnology to create combinations of plant, animal, bacteria, and viral genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods. This process is meant to encourage the expression of desired physiological traits or the output of desired biological products and is used primaril in agriculture and biomedical research. Although genetically modified foods have been approved for human consumption in the United States since 1995, more than 30 other countries around the world, including Australia, Japan, and all of the countries in the European Union, have significant restrictions or outright bans on the production of GMOs. They are not considered proven safe. There are serious and legitimate concerns regarding the risks posed to human health and the nearly inevitable creation of new generations of insecticide-resistant “superbugs.” Once GMOs are released into the environment, they are able to interbreed with other organisms and spread freely and we CANNOT foresee the consequences. Nor can we recall these creations back to the laboratories where they were created. Meet Lynnette Pate, the Organic Guru! As an activist of health and organic living, some may wonder why anyone in my family would fall prey to any illnesses. In my household, I use NOTHING at all that is toxic or GMO infected. However, because of my clean houshold, my husband, Tommy, thought if "my wife bought it, then it is great for me". This is true, but he would eat the entire organic peanut butter jar by him self in one week, the entire loaf of organic bread to go with it. He was a cheese-a-holic as well. Now, keep in mind that Tommy was very prone to high blood pressure in the beginning before our organic life began in 2005. We completely turned our household upside down after 2 near death experiences with our son and my own kidney failures due to main stream medicines and growing up on Monsanto farming. So we have been organic and clean for several years now. Please read my bio under the ABOUT tab on here. Anyway, my husband also worked out of state many months at a time and found him self eating junk to get him by when he was in a hurry. This in turn slowed him down. I have not spoke of his ailments in a few years as he did not want me bringing it up. Back in 2009, Tommy suffered from severe depression after his father's death and the loss of a job. This depression came on quickly as he had just came off a few contracts that took him away from home so long and eating toxic foods. He fell into depression and gained over 60 lbs! He was sluggish, his blood pressure went sky high, as he was prone to high blood pressure anyway. His energy was way down and his immune system became weak. One night he could barely breathe and was in severe pain. It was in the middle of the night and our holistic doctor was out of the country. I rushed him to the ER, they immediately took him in as they recognized his level of blood pressure was over stroke level. I agreed to let him be admitted so we could get a reading on his BP and see what condition he was really in. He was on the verge of having a stroke. They did give him some liquids and a temporary IV for BP medicine to get him stable. So, yes, I realize that there is a time and place for the use of TEMPORARY meds in the case of an emergency such as this. I let him take the IV and the liquids they gave him to stabalize his heart rate. I was doing this all under the direction of my holistic doc via the phone. We stayed in the ER until his BP and heart rate was stable, this took about 6 hours. After seeing his steadiness and able to breathe normally, I called the nurses in and told them we would be leaving and we would not need any more meds. They insisted on him staying and taking the medications. They also said if he leaves then he needs to get his Rx filled. I told them thank you but no thank you, we would be fine. Took him out of the hospital got him home and in bed. The next day, I rushed him to my holistic doctor who was not out of the country, and we had a complete body reading done on him. She also took the readings that the hospital gave us about his BP. She found the right supplements and herbs to control his BP and his breathing. With the help of CO Q10 and Bromelain, oil of oregano and a complete diet change, he was on his way to relief. We now incorporated my complete protocol from chapter 7 of "Fuel for the Body". Changed his eaing habits completely. I took all peanut butter OUT of the house, all breads and all cheeses. Yes they were all organic, but remember he had a problem of eating it all by him self. Plus, little did I know, peanut butter, whether orgainc or not, can wreak havoc on someone with high blood pressure. It is the shell that habors the fungus that is bad, NOT the peanut. So none the less, I switched to Sunbutter, almond and cashew butter. I only bought the small jars though. :-) I put him on a vegetarian diet, NOT VEGAN, but vegetarian. However, this vegetarian diet was temporary as to detoxify his body. He is back to eating red grass fed humane meats now. So he incorporated my protocol, added more raw vegetables, real salts and toxic free foods in his diet for 3 months. Mind you, he was home now and not out on the road. So I could watch all he did. After 3 months, he was feeling tons better, his blood pressure went down tremendously, he was active, happy, depression free and lost over 60 lbs! By doing it the "Pate Weigh" :-) So you see, there are many reasons to live naturally and many options you have. It is now 2012, and he is feeling better than ever. However, when he is out on a contract and he goes astray, he feels it immediately and has to detox for a day. But now he knows where and how to shop when I am not with him. If you are ill, please keep in mind that healing must begin with understanding. You have to go back to the cause of the symptom before you can get the proper remedies. We had to address all foods my husband had ever eaten. He can now eat what ever he wants, as long as it's toxic free and he does steer clear of peanut butter and slows down on the cheese, even thought its organic.
